The aim of the project is to develop competence profiles for nursing staff, which reflect the actual work processes in practice. They will then serve as a basis for comparing qualifications objectively and making informally acquired skills - for example, in the case of the professional recognition procedure for refugees and immigrants - more transparent. At the Future Congress, which took place on 14 and 15 September in Berlin, the participants had the opportunity to validate the results so far in a workshop. This was guided by the DEKRA Academy, which co-ordinated the project, and the Bertelsmann Foundation.

On this occasion, the project managers presented a variety of instruments which aim to document and evaluate previous learning processes. This includes the development of the HCEU competence matrix for evaluation and certification processes throughout Europe. A young nurse from Albania, who has gone through the recognition procedure by means of the DEKRA expert migration programme and now works at the Charité Hospital in Berlin also explained to the audience in what form "HCEU" was deployed in her case.

The project HealthCareEurope (HCEU) started in September 2015 and ends on August 2018. It is an integral part of a trans-disciplinary partnership under the leadership of the DEKRA Academy. The Future Congress Migration & Integration deals with the current situation of the refugees and the consequences of this for municipalities, the state and federal governments. In this case, it serves as a neutral platform, to facilitate a solution-oriented exchange of experience and improved communication with representatives from politics. The focus is mainly on practical issues, focusing on three fields of action: the regulatory framework, the integration management and civil society. Each of the three fields serves as a framework for various discussions on current refugee issues.
