DEKRA project impresses at film competition

With the slogan “Apprentices film apprentices”, up-and-coming media designers have shot films about dual training abroad. One of these was DEKRA’s MENDI project.

Film-Set, © Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (BIBB)The background is a film competition set up by the German Federal Ministry for Research and Education (BMVI). It called on media designers in the second and third year of their training to make video clips about vocational training abroad in accordance with the German example of the dual system. The five best films were presented by the BMVI for the first time on 14 February at the didacta in Stuttgart. This also includes a piece by the DEKRA project MENDI (Mentoring dual International). Enthusiasts now have the chance to vote online for the winner. The award ceremony will take place on 22 March 2017 in the Ministry of Education in Berlin.

For the MENDI pilot project sponsored by the BMBF, DEKRA Akademie is cooperating with the Technical University Berlin and the ROBINSON Club GmbH. On location in Greece, the project was supported by the  employment agency OAED, the German-Greek chamber of commerce AHK Athens and the Academy’s subsidiary DEKRA EPE. The goal of MENDI is to integrate selected elements of the German training system into the Greek tourism sector in an exemplary manner and to adapt it to the Greek vocational training system.

The project gives young people in Greece the opportunity to complete a German-style vocational training course. The apprentices obtain a qualification in accordance with Greek law, which is nonetheless equivalent to a German vocational qualification. Up to now, more than 200 young people have already started their training as cooks, as hotel managers or as restaurant managers as part of the project.
